Lowe’s Shoppers Sue After Sustaining Brain, Slip-and Fall Injuries at Store
When people go to a home improvement store, they typically have one thing in mind: buy what they need and head home. They expect the store will be clean, safe and stocked with whatever it is they plan to purchase.
Yet sometimes, things go awry. That’s exactly what happened in the following two cases.
TBI after a slip-and-fall
A New Haven, CT resident sued Lowe’s Home Improvement after she slipped and fell on a patch of ice and snow in the retailer’s parking lot. The incident happened in 2015, according to news reports, and the lawsuit was filed a few months later.
According to the court filing, the plaintiff claimed to have suffered post-concussion syndrome, left arm pain, dizziness, balance deficits, headaches, emotional distress and a traumatic brain injury.
In addition to seeking compensation for accident-related medical care, her attorneys sought to seek compensation for medical care she’d likely incur in the future.
Lawsuit filed after slip-and-fall results in skull fracture, brain injury
A similar incident happened at a Lowe’s Home Improvement store in Clark County Nevada, and in March 2016, news outlets reported that a trial for a negligence-related injury was moving forward.
In this case, the plaintiff was injured after she slipped and fell on a wet, concrete floor. In addition to hitting her head, she fractured her skull and sustained a brain injury. As a result of that injury, she said, she lost her sense of smell and taste.
Her attorneys sought reimbursement for current and future medical expenses, in addition to punitive damages.
